Modify Volume Dialog

Overview

This function changes the volume settings.

Caution
  • After the volume capacity is expanded, reboot the OS or rescan for hosts to recognize the expanded volume capacity.

  • To expand Data Container Volumes, stop or suspend the Advanced Copy session of Data Reduction enabled volumes in the Thin Provisioning Pool to which the target Data Container Volume belongs.

Information
  • The volume capacity cannot be changed if the volume matches the following conditions.

    • When the volume type is other than "TPV"

    • When the Advanced Copy session whose copy range is "Totally" is specified for the volume

    • When the balancing is being performed

    • When the RAID migration is being performed

    • When the storage migration is being performed

    • When the volume is being used for the Storage Cluster function

    • When the Data Container Volume is being expanded and the volume is in the error status

    • For volumes whose Data Reduction is enabled when the Data Container Volumes in the Thin Provisioning Pool to which the volume belongs is in the error status.

Confirm

Displays a screen to confirm the entered information.

Information
  • The confirmation screen is not displayed if all the required items are not changed correctly.

Cancel

Deletes the entered information, and then displays the previous screen.

Setting Items

Name

Specify the new volume name.

The current volume name is displayed by default.

Information
  • The length of the volume name is 1 to 32 characters.

  • Only the alphanumeric characters and symbols (except "," (comma) and "?") are available.

  • The same name as the existing volume cannot be used.

Capacity

Enter the capacity after expansion.

The current capacity is displayed by default.

Information
  • The maximum capacity after the expansion is 128 TB.

  • The maximum capacity of an ODX Buffer volume is 1 TB.

  • Although the maximum capacity of a Data Container Volume is 48 PB (varies according to model), the maximum expandable capacity in this screen is 128 TB. To expand the Data Container Volume to a capacity larger than 128 TB, use Web GUI (Normal View), CLI, or RESTful API.

  • 1 TB = 1024 GB = 1024 × 1024 MB

  • A decimal value can be specified as the capacity. Note that the third and subsequent places after the decimal point are ignored. In addition, the values after the decimal point are ignored when "MB" is selected.

  • When "GB" or "TB" is selected, the specified value is converted to "MB" and the values after the decimal point are ignored.

  • The capacity cannot be changed for volumes other than TPVs.

  • Values that are smaller than the capacity before the expansion cannot be specified.

  • The total capacity of TPVs (except when the Data Reduction is enabled) and FTVs cannot be larger than the "Max. Pool Capacity" of the storage system.

  • The total capacity of Data Reduction enabled volumes that can be created in a Data Reduction enabled Thin Provisioning Pool cannot be larger than ten times the capacity of the Data Container Volume.

Selected Volume

The name of the selected volume is displayed.

New Name

The new volume name is displayed.

The current volume name is also displayed as additional information.

Information
  • If the volume name is not changed, "-" is displayed.

New Capacity

The capacity after the expansion is displayed.

The capacity is displayed up to the second decimal place with the appropriate "MB", "GB", or "TB" unit.

The current capacity is also displayed as additional information.

In addition, the capacity in units of MB is displayed next to the capacity.

  • If the volume capacity is not changed, "-" is displayed.

Selects whether to delete the successful job information.

They are deleted by default.

Elapsed Time

The elapsed time after starting the process is displayed.

ZZ: Elapsed time (seconds)

Information
  • This item is displayed when "Overall Status" is "Running".

Completion Time

The completion time for all the jobs created by this process is displayed.

The time is displayed in the following format.

Information
  • This item is displayed when "Overall Status" is "Success" or "Error".

Overall Status

The process status is displayed.

  • Running

    The process is being performed.

  • Success

    The process completed successfully.

  • Error

    The process terminated with an error.

    Check the detailed information from Error Details.

    Parameter Name Description

    Job ID

    The identifier of the job is displayed.

    Only the jobs created by this process are displayed.

    Description

    The overview of the job is displayed.

    Status

    The job status is displayed.

    • Success

      The job succeeded and the process is completed.

    • Canceled

      The job is canceled and the process is completed.

    • Running

      The job is being executed.

    • Queued

      The job is waiting for execution.

    • Error

      The job failed and the process is completed.

      The detailed error information for the relevant job can be checked in Error Details.

    • Partial Error

      A part of the job failed and the process is completed.

      The detailed error information for the relevant job can be checked in Error Details.

    Completion Time

    The time when the job completes is displayed.

    The time is displayed in the following format.

    Information
    • "N/A" is displayed when the job status is "Running" or "Queued".

  • Error Details

    Parameter Name Description

    Job ID

    The identifier of the job is displayed.

    Only the jobs created by this process and whose status is "Error" are displayed.

    Error Message

    An error message is displayed.

    Information
    • An error message is displayed in English even if "Japanese" is selected as the display language.

    Error Code

    The error code is displayed.

    If the cause and required action of the error cannot be recognized from the error message, refer to "Appendix A Error Messages/Error Codes" in "ETERNUS CLI User's Guide" for the cause and required action of each error code.

    Internal Code

    The internal ID of the error detection location is displayed.

    Information
    • This information is for technical support.

    Operation Results

    The execution result of each operation corresponding to the job is displayed.

    This information is displayed in the following format.

    xxx: yyy

    xxx: The execution result. "Succeeded", "Failed", "Execute", or "Unexecuted" is displayed.

    yyy: Details of the operation. The operation is displayed in the command line format. Refer to "ETERNUS CLI User's Guide" for details.

    The execution results are displayed on multiple lines if multiple operations are executed.
