Enclosure Connection Path
This section describes the enclosure connection path.
ETERNUS DX600 S6
In the ETERNUS DX600 S6, multiple paths are used to connect a controller enclosure (CE) to drive enclosures (DE).
A drive enclosure has two independent backend ports. Path redundancy is maintained by connecting the drive enclosure to two controllers. This configuration allows operation to continue even if one of the connection paths fails.
Up to 39 drive enclosures can be connected for each controller enclosure.
There are four system connection paths between a controller enclosure and drive enclosures. For each path, up to 10 drive enclosures (up to 9 for path 0 and up to 10 for paths 1 to 3) and up to 240 drives can be connected.

ETERNUS DX900 S6 and ETERNUS DX8900 S6
In the ETERNUS DX900 S6 and the ETERNUS DX8900 S6, multiple paths are used to connect the frontend enclosure (FE) to controller enclosures (CE) and a controller enclosure to drive enclosures (DE).
In the ETERNUS DX900 S6 and the ETERNUS DX8900 S6, one controller enclosure and the drive enclosures that are connected to that controller enclosure via a drive adapter is collectively called a "node". When accessing a drive enclosure on a different node, access the drive enclosure indirectly through the FE.

ETERNUS DX900 S6
Up to two controller enclosures can be connected to the ETERNUS DX900 S6.
Up to 47 drive enclosures can be connected for each controller enclosure.
There are four system connection paths between a controller enclosure and drive enclosures. For each path, up to 12 drive enclosures (up to 11 for path 0 and up to 12 for paths 1 to 3) and up to 288 drives can be connected.
ETERNUS DX8900 S6
An ETERNUS DX8900 S6 (with four controller enclosures or less) can be connected with up to four controller enclosures.
An ETERNUS DX8900 S6 (with five controller enclosures or more) can be connected with up to 12 controller enclosures.
Up to 15 drive enclosures can be connected for each controller enclosure.
There are four system connection paths between a controller enclosure and drive enclosures. For each path, up to four drive enclosures (up to three for path 0 and up to four for paths 1 to 3) and up to 96 drives can be connected.
